Some highlights of past Rutgers SAE cars follow. More history will be added as it is obtained from our RFR Alumni.


1990-1991 - RUF1:

  • First entry of a Rutgers SAE car in the SAE Competition
  • Winner of the William C. Mitchell "Best Suspension Design" Award (judged by Terry Satchel)


1991-1992 - RUF1 (#63):

  • Modified RUF1 to use in 1993
  • Failure of component during final event, the endurance race
  • Placed 3rd in the acceleration event (fastest naturally aspirated car)


1992-1993 - RUF2/RC01:

  • Did not compete


1993-1994 - RUF2/RC01 (#50):

  • Placed 9th out of 75 cars
  • Composite monocoque car produced
  • Winner of "Best Prototype Fabrication" award


1994-1995 - RUF2 (#9):

  • Modified RUF2 to use in 1995 competition
  • Placed 22th out of 84 cars
  • Modifications included Carbon Fiber Wheels
  • Honorable mention for "Best Use of Electronics in Racing"


1995-1996:

  • Did not compete


1996-1997 - RUF3 (#68):

  • Did not compete.


1997-1998 - RUF4 (#22):

  • Placed 17th


2002-2003 - The Car - "Faster than yo' momma" (#42):

  • Rebuilt the suspension
  • Designed an automatic shifter
